Apelin is a regulatory peptide and a ligand of the APJ receptor. It is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family. Apelin and APJ are broadly dispersed in the body.[1]

애플리케이션

Apelin-13 trifluoroacetate salt has been used to determine whether apelin promotes progression of diabetic nephropathy (DN) by inducing podocyte dysfunction.[2] It has also been used to examine the effects of apelin on myocardial infarction (MI) injury and underlying mechanisms.[3]

생화학적/생리학적 작용

Apelin plays physiological roles in the cytoprotection of many internal organs. It is used to treat insulin resistance and hypertension, but it may also can act as a negative factor.[1] Apelin also regulates cardiovascular diseases.[3]

Synthetic endogenous peptide agonist for the human APJ receptor, a putative receptor protein related to the angiotensin receptor (AT₁). This peptide exerted an acidification-rate-promoting activity in CHO cells expressing the APJ receptor with a median effective concentration (EC₅₀) value of 0.37 nM. Blocks HIV-1 and HIV-2 entry into cells expressing the APJ receptor.
