Celite® 545 is a flux calcined diatomaceous earth with medium permeability applicable as filter aid for rapid filtration in aqueous solution. It is also suitable for highly viscous liquids such as casein, pectin, adhesives, greases, waxes and tars, syrups and synthetic resins.

애플리케이션

Celite® 545 can be used as a clarifying agent to break or mitigate colloids in the turbid solution. It is also used as a short filtration pad to remove unreacted inorganic salts present in the reaction mixture before the chromatographic separation of dissolved compounds.[1][2]

    1. When using Celite 545 to test for suspended solids, the standard should be prepared in the same way as a traditional standard, either weight/weight or weight/volume.

      Weight to volume has been the most common method of preparing standards because it is easier to dilute to volume with the solvent than weighing the solvent or solution for dissolving or diluting. However, since weight/weight is more accurate, it is being used more frequently now, especially when making small quantities of standards.

      When dealing with suspended solids, it's important to test the entire prepared sample (with rinsing) rather than just an aliquot, as the solids will stick to the sides of their flask.
