2-Methyl-2-imidazoline is monomethyl derivative of imidazoline. The self-association of 2-methyl-2-imidazoline was studied in aqueous solution, at different pH values, by ultraviolet spectroscopy.[1]

Kinetics of the reaction of 2-methyl-2-imidazoline with sulfate and hydrogen phosphate radicals has been investigated by flash-photolysis. Rate constant for the reaction was reported to be 10⁸-10⁹M^-1s^-1.[2]

애플리케이션

2-Methyl-2-imidazoline may be used in the synthesis of series of N,N,N′-trisubstituted ethylenediamine derivatives.[3] It may be used in the preparation of 1-alkyl-2-methyl-2-imidazolines, via alkylation with organic halides in the presence of phase transfer catalysis and absence of solvent.[4]
