General description

Diheptyl phthalate belongs to the class of phthalate esters (PAEs), a group of commercially important chemical compounds used as an industrial solvent and plasticizer in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics. PAEs are regarded as ubiquitous environmental contaminants which are toxic to living organisms.

Application

Diheptyl phthalate may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in water samples by magnetic solid-phase extraction based on magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes followed by gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) and in food samples by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

The 26-week oral toxicity of diheptyl phthalate (DHP), a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα) agonist, with special emphasis on the potential induction of hepatocellular proliferative lesions was investigated in this study. DHP was administered to male F344 rats via gavage
