SW033291 is an inhibitor of the prostaglandin-degrading enzyme 15-PGDH
SW033291 is an inhibitor of the prostaglandin-degrading enzyme 15-PGDH. PGE2 is known to promote hematopoiesis and to promote reeneration by causing stem cells to proliferate. 15-PGDH degrades prostaglandin PGE2 and is a negative regulator of tissue regeneration and repair. SW033291 inhibition of 15-PGDH doubled levels of PGE2 and doubled rates of colon and liver tissue regeneration. Mice given SW033291 after receiving a bone marrow transplant had a two- to threefold increase in the number of donor cells that homed to the their bone marrow.
Rosiglitazone, a synthetic peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) ligand, has been reported to reduce growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in 10 patients with acromegaly. However, the mechanisms remain unknown. Here, we reveal that PPARγ directly enhances 15-hydroxyprostaglandin
