Biochem/physiol Actions

These proteins bind to the catalytic subunit of cyclic-AMP dependent protein kinase, displacing the regulatory subunit and inhibiting phosphorylating activity. The cyclic-AMP binding capacity of the regulatory subunit is enhanced. Many other proteins exhibit this enhancement ability, too (Brostrom, C.O. and Kon, C., Anal. Biochem., 58, 459 [1974]).

Packaging

Package size based on protein content.

Unit Definition

One unit will transfer 1.0 picomole (10-12 mol) of phosphate from γ-32P-ATP to hydrolyzed and partially dephosphorylated casein (Product No. C 4765) per min at pH 6.5 at 30 °C.

Physical form

Supplied as lyophilized powder containing 30% glycerophosphate and 20% EDTA.
