β-lipoprotein (ApoB) is a primary cholesterol carrying apolipoprotein of chylomicrons and low-density lipoproteins (LDL). ApoB is essential for LDL formation and LDL receptor binding. ApoB is involved in the delivery of cholesterol to cells.
Specificity
Goat polyclonal anti-β-Lipoprotein (LDL) antiserum is determined to be immunospecific for β-lipoprotein by immunoelectrophoresis against normal human serum. No reactivity is observed against α-lipoprotein (HDL, High Density Lipoprotein). Using immunoelectophoresis, a 1:16 dilution of Goat Anti-Human β-Lipoprotein shows strong reactivity with human β-lipoprotein at 1 mg/ml.
Application
Goat polyclonal anti-β-Lipoprotein (LDL) antibody is used to tag β-lipoprotein for detection and quantitation by immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques such as immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence. It is used as a probe to determine the presence and roles of β-lipoprotein in chylomicron and LDL formation and function especially involving cholesterol transport and deliver to cells.
