Gene Information

human ... LXN(56925)

General description

LXN (latexin) is the human homologue of endogenous inhibitor of carboxypeptidase A found in rat. It was initially recognized as a neural marker in developing mammalian brain, of the lateral neocortex. This protein is composed of 222 amino acids. An α-helix links two subdomains that comprise the protein. It has high structural homology to TIG1 (tazarotene-induced gene 1).

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 9910396, sequence 1-222
Recombinant latexin protein

Application

Anti-LXN antibody produced in chicken is suitable for indirect ELISA and western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Latexin (LXN) is a negative regulator of hematopoietic stem cell and may exert its tumor-suppressive function by altering the stem cell-like properties of melanoma cells. Its expression is reduced in human gastric cancers compared with their normal control tissues. LXN expression may have involvement in tumor suppression. It may have clinical efficacy in the treatment of malignancies.

Latexin is a negative regulator of hematopoietic stem cell number in mice. Its dysregulated expression in other tumors led us to hypothesize that latexin may have tumor suppressor properties in hematological malignancies. We found that latexin was down-regulated in a

Latexin, also known as endogenous carboxypeptidase inhibitor (CPI), has been found to inhibit mouse stem cell populations and lymphoma cell proliferation, demonstrating its potential role as a tumor suppressor. Our previous study also suggested a correlation between latexin expression and
