General description
Polystyrene (PS) is a widely used polymer due to properties such as low specific weight, high chemical resistance and mechanical flexibility and also it is biocompatible. PS as biomaterials was manufactured for cell attachment.[1] Functionalized porous polymer beads are used for solid-phase organic synthesis, combinatorial chemistry, polymer-supported catalysis, ion-exchange resin.[2] Polystyrene gels are cross-linked in presence of diluents which forms a fine-mesh bead used for packing into chromatographic columns.[3]
Application
Polystyrene Beads may be used as packing material for columns used in Gel Permeation Chromatography.
