General description

Fluoxetine hydrochloride is an antidepressant drug and a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which is widely used for the treatment of major depressive disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic fits.

Application

Fluoxetine hydrochloride may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in biological fluids using various chromatography techniques.
Fluoxetine hydrochloride may be used as an antidepressant, since it can selectively inhibit the serotonin uptake in the brain. It may also be used in the management of a variety of psychiatric and metabolic derangements.
