Gene Information

human ... AGR2(10551)

General description

Anterior gradient protein 2 homolog (AGR2) (also known as secreted cement gland protein XAG-2 homolog) is thought to be a metastasis-inducing protein in breast cancer models and may be used as a means of detecting the outcome of hormonally treated patients with breast cancer. AGR2 may also play an important role in intestinal mucus production. Recent researched has also linked AGR2 to metastasis. Lower levels of AGR expression in prostate cancer may be highly predictive of the reoccurrence of disease even after a prostatectomy.

Specificity

Specific for Anterior gradient protein 2 homolog and does not detect Anterior gradient protein 3 homolog.

Immunogen

Linear peptide corresponding to a sequence unique to human Anterior gradient protein 2 homolog and not to human Anterior gradient protein 3 homolog.

Application

Anti-Anterior gradient protein 2 homolog Antibody, clone 7A10 is an antibody against Anterior gradient protein 2 homolog for use in WB & IC.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A previous lot was used by an independent laboratory in IC on primary carcinomas (Barraclough, D., et al. (2009). Am J Pathol. 175:1848–1857).

AGR2 is overexpressed in multiple cancers, particularly those arising from breast and prostate tissues, and higher levels of AGR2 are associated with earlier patient death. Although AGR2 is normally resident within the endoplasmic reticulum, the protein has been found in
