General description

Meisenheimer rearrangement of methoxymethyl phenyl sulfoxide to methoxymethyl benzenesulfenate has been reported[1]. Methoxymethyl phenyl sulfide undergoes solvent free permanganate oxidation to yield methoxymethyl phenyl sulfone[2].

Application

Methoxymethyl phenyl sulfide has been used in the preparation of methoxymethyl phenyl sulfoxide[3].
