Application

Phenylhydrazine hydrochloride is used in the examination of tyrosine phosphorylation of Janus protein tyrosine kinase (JAKs) in the EPO-responsive normal erythroblastoid cells of anemic mice.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phenylhydrazine hydrochloride causes acute hemolysis when injected intraperitoneally in to wild-type and Hp and Hx single-null mice. It suppresses the horseradish peroxide (HRP) residual activity in tissue sections of animals.

Preparation Note

50 gm of Phenylhydrazine hydrochloride dissolves in 1 mL of water to yield a clear, very faint yellow solution.

Cyclophosphamide is widely used to treat children with medulloblastoma; however, little is known about its brain penetration. We performed cerebral microdialysis to characterize the brain penetration of cyclophosphamide (130 mg/kg, IP) and its metabolites [4-hydroxy-cyclophosphamide (4OH-CTX) and carboxyethylphosphoramide mustard (CEPM)]

Abnormal erythropoietin (EPO)-independent cell growth is induced after infection of erythroid progenitor cells with a polycythemic strain of Friend virus (FVp). Binding of its Env-related glycoprotein (gp55) to the EPO receptor (EPOR) mimics the activation of the EPOR with EPO.
