Biochem/physiol Actions

NVS-ZP7-7 is potent inhibitor of the Notch signaling pathway that induces endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and induces apoptosis in T-ALL cell lines. NVS-ZP7-7 is a potent and selective inhibitor of SLC39A7 (ZIP7) zinc transporter that increases ER zinc levels. It appears that inhibition of ZIP7 provided significant protection against ferroptosis.

Ferroptosis is a newly described form of regulated cell death triggered by oxidative stresses and characterized by extensive lipid peroxidation and membrane damages. The name of ferroptosis indicates that the ferroptotic death process depends on iron, but not other metals
