Gene Information

human ... FOXE1(2304)

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of human FOXE1

Biochem/physiol Actions

FOXE1 belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors, which is characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. It functions as a thyroid transcription factor which likely plays a crucial role in thyroid morphogenesis. Mutations in this gene are associated with congenital hypothyroidism and cleft palate with thyroid dysgenesis. The map localization of this gene suggests it may also be a candidate gene for squamous cell epithelioma and hereditary sensory neuropathy type I.This intronless gene belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors, which is characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. A chromosomal translocation results in production of an oncogenic PAX8-PPARG fusion protein (PPFP) in thyroid carcinomas. PAX8 is a thyroid transcription factor, and PPARG is a transcription factor that plays important roles in adipocytes and macrophages. PPFP retains the DNA
