General description

Profilins are highly conserved pan-allergens that occur in plant foods, pollen and latex. Profilins have five distinct isoforms (PRF1-5) that bind with actin filaments to regulate cytoskeletal organization. PRF1, 2 and 3 are constitutive profilins that occur in all vegetative cells. During the early stages of microsporogenesis, these isoforms are also expressed in microspores and ovules . Monoclonal Anti-Profilin antibody is specific for Arabidopsis constitutive profilin (PRF1 and PRF2 and weakly with PRF3). The antibody also reacts with tobacco profilin (approx. 14 kDa).

Immunogen

PRF1 protein.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Profilin antibody is suitable for use in immunohistochemistry, western blot (1-2 μg/mL using extract of Arabidopsis sprout) and indirect ELISA.

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Profilins are ubiquitous proteins, present in all eukaryotic cells and identified as allergens in pollen, latex and plant foods. The highly conserved structure justifies the cross-reactive nature of IgE antibodies against plant profilins and their designation as pan-allergens. Primary sensitization
