Gene Information

human ... CYP24A1(1591)

General description

Also known as Vitamin D(3) 24-hydroxylase, CYP24A1 is a member of the cytochrome P450 (CYP) family of enzymes. Most members of the CYP family can metabolize multiple substrates, and can catalyze multiple reactions. The CYP24A1 is a mitochondrial protein that starts the breakdown of 1,25-dihydrozyvitamin D3 by hydroxylation of the side chain to form calcitroic acid. This enzyme also has a role in calcium homeostasis and the vitamin D endocrine system.

Specificity

Other Homologies: Bovine (92% sequence homology) and Rat (75% sequence homology).

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human CYP24A1.

Application

Anti-CYP24A1 Antibody is an antibody against CYP24A1 for use in 0.
