Benjamin Hein

Benjamin Hein is head of Life Science Services at the Life Science business of Merck. He is based in Burlington, Massachusetts, U.S. In this role, he oversees the fully integrated Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) and Contract Testing services for the Life Science business, including traditional modalities such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients (HP-APIs), and novel modalities such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and viral and gene therapies (VGTs), as well as the business’ mRNA offering.

Hein joined the company in 2011, serving in several positions in key geographies. Most recently, he was Head of Specialty Gases, Electronics, based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA. Prior to that, Hein served as General Manager for Asia (excl. Korea) for the Delivery Systems & Services business of Electronics, based in Taipei, Taiwan, as well as the Head of Strategy and Business Transformation, Electronics. In these roles, he shaped the future and strategic repositioning of Electronics including the transformational acquisitions and integrations of Versum and Intermolecular. Before joining Electronics, Benjamin served as the Head of Group Strategy and the CEO Office for Merck.

Hein holds a Master of Business (Marketing) from Queensland University of Technology, Australia, and a Master of Science in Strategic Marketing from Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
