Application

N-Acetyl-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-7-amido-4-methylcoumarin has been used as a substrate for caspase-3 assay in human colon cancer cell line and in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Fluorogenic substrate for caspase 3, a protease that is rapidly activated when cells are exposed to apoptotic conditions and that cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase.

We have previously shown that cerebral Hypoxia-ischemia (HI) results in activation of Src kinase in the newborn piglet brain. We investigated the regulatory mechanism by which the pre-apoptotic proteins translocate from mitochondria to the cytosol during HI through the Src
