This protein exists as attached to transcription factor IIH (TFIIH) and as a free fraction that alternates between the cytoplasm and nucleus. p8/TTD-A gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 6q25.3.

It is essential for the stability of the transcription factor IIH (TFIIH) complex. The cells from patients with p8/TTD-A have reduced levels of TFIIH while overexpressing p8/TTD-A restored the cellular level TFIIH complex.
