胆固醇5α, 6α-环氧化物是一种氧固醇，一种通过自氧化的胆固醇衍生物。Oxysterols 是胆固醇稳态的非基因性调节因子。它的生物学作用有蛋白质异戊烯化、细胞凋亡、鞘脂代谢调节和血小板聚集。氧固醇可与肝X受体结合，调节胆固醇流出并减少细胞对胆固醇的摄取。
