无水硫酸铜以矿物氢氰酸盐形式存在。它呈现出菱形的结晶形态。它在高于600oC的温度下分解成氧化物。通过在氧化铜或碳酸铜中加入稀硫酸可制备CuSO4 水合物,经过结晶可获得五水合的蓝色三斜晶体。CuSO4的工业制备方法是向稀硫酸和铜废料的热混合物中通入空气流。
