Description générale

Trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA) belongs to the class of monomers known as methacrylates. It is used in the synthesis of various TMPTMA-based polymers, which are widely used in the dental industry. They are often incorporated into dental composites and resin materials due to their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. These polymers provide durability and resistance to wear, making them suitable for dental fillings, crowns, and other dental materials. TMPTMA-based polymers are also used in various applications, which include, coatings and adhesives, UV-curable materials, optical materials, and microelectronics. Additionally, TMPTMA is also used as a crosslinking agent and it has excellent hardness making it a suitable choice for adhesive applications.

Application

Trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate can be used as a cross-linking agent to synthesize:
  • Poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) nanocomposites that are used in the dental industry.[1]
  • Silicone rubber with a reduced bleed-out ratio.[2]
  • Organic monolithic column by living/controlled free-radical polymerization. This column can be used as a stationary phase in capillary liquid chromatography.[3]
  • Macroporous poly (glycidyl methacrylate-co-trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate) materials with fine controlled porous properties.
It is also used as a key component in the production of dental composites and resins. TMPTMA is valued for its ability to form strong and durable bonds with other dental materials, making it an important ingredient in the manufacture of dental restorations such as fillings, crowns, and bridges. Its high reactivity and compatibility with other monomers make it a versatile ingredient in dental materials, contributing to their mechanical strength, durability, and aesthetic properties.

  1. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.   2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
