Glycogen synthase 2 (GYS2) codes for a rate-limiting enzyme, glycogen synthase. The encoded protein is exclusively expressed in liver.
Inmunógeno
synthetic peptide located at the C-terminus of mouse glycogen synthase 2 (GYS2), conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is highly conserved in rat GYS2 (single amino acid substitution) and in human GYS2 (84% identity).
Aplicación
Anti-Glycogen Synthase 2 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry.
Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas
Glycogen synthase 2 (GS-2) plays a vital role as a rate limiting enzyme in glycogenesis pathway in liver and adipose tissue. It acts a target gene of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARα, PPARβ/δ and PPARγ), which are transcription factors implicated in regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism. Mutation in the gene is associated with the pathogenesis of inherited monogenic disease glycogen storage disease 0 (GSD0).
Forma física
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
