General description
El retinol o alcohol de la vitamina A es la principal forma circulante de vitamina A. No es biológicamente activo. El retinol o retinol todo-trans es una molécula de 20 átomos de carbono con un anillo ciclohexenilo, una cadena lateral con cuatro dobles enlaces (en la configuración trans) y un grupo alcohol terminal.
Application
El retinol se ha utilizado:
- para la síntesis del ácido retinoico todo-trans en células HepG2
- para estudiar el efecto del retinol en el crecimiento de las células de colon normales de ratón cultivadas como organoides
- como patrón para la determinación de la vitamina A en las células
- como componente del medio químicamente definido para el cultivo de órgano testicular y espermatogénesis in vitro.
Biochem/physiol Actions
El retinol y sus derivados exhiben propiedades antienvejecimiento. Además, actúa también como antiarrugas. Sin embargo, debido a su fotoinestabilidad y a su capacidad de irritación de la piel, no se utiliza de manera generalizada en las formulaciones cosméticas. El retinol se utiliza en el tratamiento de las dermatosis, entre ellas el fotoenvejecimiento. Su carencia se asocia con la aparición de xerosis y de hiperqueratosis folicular.
El retinol actúa como precursor de los retinoides activos. Se convierte en retinaldehído y posteriormente en ácido retinoico. El ácido retinoico todo-trans y el 9-cis son ligandos para los receptores nucleares, los receptores del ácido retinoico (RAR) y los receptores X retinoides (RXR). Esos receptores son reguladores de la transcripción de varios genes.

The overfill tolerance for this product varies depending on the pack size. For 25 mg, the overfill tolerance is +1.0 mg. For 100 mg, the overfill tolerance is +5 mg. For 250 mg, the overfill tolerance is +10 mg. For 500 mg, the overfill tolerance is +25 mg. For 1 g, the overfill tolerance is +0.05 g.

How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.
