The idea of manufacturing a 1.5 mL plastic test tube was born out of the necessity to introduce an appropriate container into the automatic clinical analyzers developed by Eppendorf in 1962. The tried and tested design with invaluable features shows perfect sealing qualities, excellent chemical stability and optimal construction materials for resisting the demands of centrifugal forces.
