Descripción general

DOG1 is a calcium-dependent chloride channel protein that is encoded by a gene called TMEM16A (TMEM16 FLJ10261, ANO1, ORAOV2, and AOS2) located on chromosome 11q13. DOG1 has many significant functions such as regulation of the cholinergic activity of gastrointestinal smooth muscle and regulation of both the survival and proliferation of cells. Anti-DOG1 antibody has been shown to be useful in the identification of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).

Gastrointestinal Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) may mimic gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) histologically. Studies have shown that KS outside the gastrointestinal (GI) tract may express CD117, an antibody usually used to support a diagnosis of GIST. The aim was to evaluate the

We recently characterized gene expression patterns in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) using cDNA microarrays, and found that the gene FLJ10261 (DOG1, discovered on GIST-1), encoding a hypothetical protein, was specifically expressed in GISTs. The immunoreactivity of a rabbit antiserum to

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) occur primarily in the wall of the intestine and are characterized by activating mutations in the receptor tyrosine kinases genes KIT or PDGFRA. The diagnosis of GIST relies heavily on the demonstration of KIT/CD117 protein expression

Recently, the novel gene DOG1 has been found to be overexpressed in most gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) specifically within the field of soft tissue tumors. DOG1 might play a role in development of GISTs and have potential as a diagnostic
