Descripción general

DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 1 (UniProt Q06609; also known as BRCA1/BRCA2-containing complex subunit 5, Homolog of E. coli RecA, hRAD51, HsRAD51, RAD51 homolog A, RecA-like protein, Recombination protein A) is encoded by the RAD51 (also known as HRAD51, HsT16930, BRCC5, MRMV2, RAD51A, RECA) gene (Gene ID 5888) in human. RAD51 is a member of the RecA family recombinases. It interacts with BRCA1 and BRCA2 to activate homologous recombination. RAD51 exhibits DNA-dependent ATPase activity and participates in double-strand break (DSB) repair by unwinding DNA to form a helical nucleoprotein filament. It is highly expressed in the testis and thymus and lower expression levels are found in the small intestine, placenta, colon, pancreas, and ovaries.

We studied the unique inhibitor of the histone deacetylases (HDAC) valproate-valpromide of acyclovir (AN446) that upon metabolic degradation release the HDAC inhibitor (HDACI) valproic acid (VPA). Among the HDAC inhibitors that we have tested, only AN446, and to a lesser
