Phosphatidylserine(PS) is the major anionic phospholipid[1] in human plasma and intracellular membranes identified first in brain.[2] It is a structural component of endoplasmic reticulum, nuclear envelopes, Golgi apparatus, inner layer of plasma membranes, outer mitochondrial membranes and myelin.[2]

Phosphatidylserine(PS) mediates the activation of enzymes and structural components.[1] PS plays a key role in apoptosis by regulating cell signalling molecules and in monitoring membrane fluidity.[1][3]
