How is Product 377635, Octadecyl-functionalized silica gel, prepared?

It is prepared by the reaction of silica gel with n-octadecyltrichlorosilane. After hydrolysis of the unreacted chloro groups, silanol groups on the silica are blocked with trimethylsilyl groups.

How can Product 377635, Octadecyl-functionalized silica gel resin be cleaned of stubborn material?

One can usually start with 40-50% chloroform in methanol and see if that cleans the resin. If not, try increasing the chloroform content gradually until it is 100%.
