Application
Platinum black (black, powder, ≤20 μm) can be electroplated on implantable microelectrode arrays (MEAs) to improve the impedence of the device. It can also be used as a microelectrode for the formation of a microfluidic electrochemical sensor for glucose sensing applications. It can be used as a photocathode for the production of hydrogen.
Platinum black can be used as a catalyst to facilitate the electrochemical reactions in proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells. These fuel cells are promising candidates as a clean and energy efficient power source.
