polymer phase, (94% methyl/5%phenyl)silicone

General description

The SE-54 column is a classic non-bonded column based on a poly(94% methyl/5% phenyl) silicone. The phase also includes 1% vinyl. This column is popular for polynuclear aromatics and underivatized phenolics.

This column meets USP G36 requirements.

Application

SE-4 and OV-1 stationary phases may be used in a quantitative structure-property relationship technique, for the simultaneous prediction of Kovats retention indices for some esters, alcohols, aldehyde and ketones, using an artificial neural network (ANN). SE-54 stationary phase may also be used in capillary gas chromatography and combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to study the volatile components of a coal tar pitch.
