Anwendung

(±)-α-Tocopherol wurde für die Zubereitung von mycobakteriellen Emulsionen verwendet. Außerdem wurde es zur Untersuchung seiner immunmodulatorischen Wirkung auf das Influenzavirus verwendet.

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Tocopherole (Vitamin E) enthalten eine Reihe (α, β, γ und δ) chiraler Verbindungen, deren Grad der Methylierung im Phenol-Teil des Chromanolrings variiert. Sie fungieren als lipide, lösliche Antioxidantien, die Zellmembranen vor oxidativer Schädigung schützen. α-Tocopherole werden von Menschen gut resorbiert und ihre Nicotinatsalze können als Vitamin-E-Zusatzstoff dienen. In Studien wurde auch berichtet, dass Vitamin E die durch pharmakologisch induzierte Epilepsie in Ratten verursachten Zellschäden verhindern kann.

Angaben zur Herstellung

(±)-α-Tocopherol ist mit Chloroform, Ethanol, Ether, Aceton und pflanzlichen Ölen mischbar. In Wasser ist es allerdings praktisch unlöslich. (±)-α-Tocopherol ist unter alkalischen Bedingungen instabil.

    1. This product is not considered a standard nor has it been tested for use as such in LC-MS. Product number V-020 is a 1 mg/mL α-tocopherol solution in methanol. This product is a certified reference material suitable for use as a standard in HPLC or LC-MS/MS.
