Anwendung
The enzyme plays a critical role in the recycling of inositol to phosphoinositides in the mammalian brain and participates in the phosphatidylinositol signaling pathway. It is inhibited non-competitively by Li+, which may be significant in the treatment of manic depression. The enzyme may help in identifying less toxic substitutes for lithium in manic depressive therapy.
Einheitendefinition

myo-Inositol monophosphatase (myo-inositol-1-phosphate phosphohydrolase, EC 3.1.3.25) is an attractive target for mechanistic investigation due to its critical role in the phosphatidylinositol signaling pathway and the possible relevance of its inhibition by Li+ to manic depression therapy. The x-ray crystallographic structure

This study investigated the expression and tissue distribution of inositol monophosphatase (IMPA1) and characterized its role in salinity adaptation in the eel. The coding sequence of eel IMPA1 was determined and confirmed to be orthologous to the mammalian gene/enzyme by

The marine bacterium Vibrio parahaemolyticus causes gastroenteritis in humans and encodes the type III effector protein VPA0450, which contributes to host cell death caused by autophagy, cell rounding, and cell lysis. We found that VPA0450 is an inositol polyphosphate 5-phosphatase

Inositol monophosphatase (IMPase) family of proteins are Mg(2+) activated Li(+) inhibited class of ubiquitous enzymes with promiscuous substrate specificity. Herein, the molecular basis of IMPase substrate specificity is delineated by comparative crystal structural analysis of a Staphylococcal dual specific IMPase/NADP(H)
