General description

Quintozene is a pentachloronitrobenzene (PCNB) fungicide that is primarily used to control “snow mold” on golf courses.[1]

Application

Quintozene may be used as an internal standard for the determination of endocrine disrupter compounds (EDCs) in fish using modified QuEChERS and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry in tandem (GC–MS/MS).
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.

A novel aerobic pentachloronitrobenzene-degrading bacterium, Nocardioides sp. strain PD653, was isolated from an enrichment culture in a soil-charcoal perfusion system. The bacterium also degraded hexachlorobenzene, a highly recalcitrant environmental pollutant, accompanying the generation of chloride ions. Liberation of (14)CO(2) from

Journal of hazardous materials, 198, 275-281 (2011-11-15)
Pentachloronitrobenzene (PCNB) has been identified as a potential persistent organic pollutant, and received concerns from many countries for regulation due to its impurities such as dioxins and furans. Considering the need for its disposal, the mechanochemical destruction approach was investigated
