General description

Histones are highly conserved proteins that serve as the structural scaffold for the organization of nuclear DNA into chromatin. The four core histones, H2A, H2B, H3, and H4, assemble into an octamer (2 molecules of each). Subsequently, 146 base pairs of DNA are wrapped around the octamer, forming a nucleosome. The linker histone, H1, interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes, and functions in the compaction of chromatin into 30nm chromatin fibers and higher order structures.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the N-terminus of human Monomethyl Histone H1 (Lys26).

Application

Detect Histone H1 using this rabbit polyclonal antibody, Anti-Monomethyl Histone H1 (Lys26) Antibody validated for use in western blotting, Dot Blot & IP.
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: 10 µg from a representative lot immunoprecipitated Monomethyl Histone H1 (Lys26) in 500 µg of HeLa acid extract.
Dot Blot Specificity Analysis: This antibody detected Monomethyl Histone H1 (Lys26) in in an Absurance Histone H3 Antibody Specificity Array (Cat. No. 16-667) and in an Absurance Histone H2A, H2B, H4 Antibody Specificity Array (Cat. No. 16-665).

Biochem/physiol Actions

This antibody recognizes the N-terminus of Monomethyl Histone H1 (Lys26) methylated at Lys26.

Analysis Note

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HeLa acid extract.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.25 µg/mL of this antibody detected Monomethyl Histone H1 (Lys26) in 10 µg of HeLa acid extract.
