General description

Casamino acids are all of the naturally occurring amino acids and particularly rich in essential amino acids. Casamino acids have undergone a nearly complete acid hydrolysis of the casein proteins until all of the nitrogen is converted to free amino acids.

  • Global Response of Phaeobacter inhibens DSM 17395 to Deletion of Its 262-kb Chromid Encoding Antibiotic Synthesis: Casamino acids were used to analyze the global response of Phaeobacter inhibens to chromid deletion, highlighting their utility in microbial physiology studies (Rabus et al., 2020) (Rabus, 2020).

  • Evaluating Haloarchaeal Culture Media for Ultrahigh-Molecular-Weight Polyhydroxyalkanoate Biosynthesis by Haloferax Mediterranei: This study showcases how Casamino acids optimize the culture media for Haloferax Mediterranei, enhancing polyhydroxyalkanoate production (Morita et al., 2021) (Morita, 2021).

  1. Hello! I am wondering if there is information on the composition of each amino acid and their percentage? Understanding each amino acid's role in the casamino acids is vital to our work. Thank you!

    1. This material is an acid hydrolysate of Casein. Casamino acids include all of the naturally occurring amino acids. Typically, most content will be amino acids or partially digested proteins with a salt content of approximately 30-40%. A detailed amino acid profile has not been established for this product. However, historical data obtained on a similar product, C9386, Hy-Case SF, estimate typical amino acid content as shown below. Amino acids may be present at similar concentrations for the 2240-OP.

  2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  3. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.
