General description
Acetonitrile, an aliphatic nitrile, is widely used as an organic solvent and intermediate in organic syntheses. It is transparent to UV-visible light, which makes it highly applicable in spectrophotometric and fluorimetric techniques. MeCN is utilized as a mobile phase component in many chromatographic techniques, due to its low viscosity, high elution strength and miscibility in water. It also plays a major role as an extractant medium in liquid-liquid extraction, solid-phase extraction or microextraction.

Acetonitrile may be used as a solvent to prepare:
It may also be used as a reactant to synthesize:
- 1,2-Azidoalcohols and 1,2-azidoamines via cerium(III) chloride assisted ring opening of epoxides and aziridines by sodium azide.
- Cyano-bearing indolinones by oxidative arylalkylation of olefins in the presence of palladium catalyst.
It may also be used as a reactant to synthesize:
- Bis (diphenylphosphino) acetonitrile by reacting with n-butyllithium and then with chlorodiphenylphosphine.
- β-Acetamido ketones via coupling reaction with ketones or ketoesters and aldehydes in the presence of cobalt(II) chloride.

I'm using anhydrous acetonitrile that was opened in 2017. microbubbles frequently occur in the internal tubing(Cellenone machine) . Could this be related to storing it for a long period?

Long-term storage of anhydrous acetonitrile may contribute to the occurrence of microbubbles in the internal tubing of the Cellenone machine. Unopened bottles have a recommended retest period of three years. However, no specific long-term data is available regarding the effects of storage in tubing.

How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. Hey, my name is Mohammad. We tried to develop sensor ro detect heavy metals. And I fond some peaks in the solution when I added acn 99.8% and I want to know if there is heavy metals and which metals?
