a-Linolenic acid, also known as ALA, is an omega-3 fatty acid essential for human health and well-being. Measurement of ALA levels in serum is useful for evaluating essential fatty acid deficiency (EFAD), malabsorption and ALA treatment response in patients with EFAD.
