Gene Information

human ... IGF1R(3480)

General description

Insulin like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 15q25- qter. The encoded protein is a transmembrane heterotetramer. It is structurally similar to insulin receptor.

Immunogen

Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of tyrosine 1165/tyrosine 1166 (T-D-Y(p)-Y(p)-R-K), according to the protein IGF1R.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Insulin like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) on binding to its ligand, IGF2 regulates cell proliferation and growth. The encoded protein is also facilitates the normal embryonic and postnatal growth. It plays a crucial role in the embryonic growth. Mutations in IGF2 are associated with Silver–Russell syndrome and ring chromosome 15 syndrome. It is upregulated in ovarian cancer.

Features and Benefits

Target description

This receptor binds insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) with a high affinity and IGF2 with a lower affinity. It has a tyrosine-protein kinase activity, which is necessary for the activation of the IGF1-stimulated downstream signaling cascade. When present in a hybrid receptor with INSR, binds IGF1.

Solution in phosphate-buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol
