Application

2-Amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol can be used to study biological buffers. 2-Amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol has been used in a study to afford a new family of isostructural octanuclear Cu4Ln4 complexes. 2-Amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol has also been used in a study to improve cooling refrigerants for low-temperature applications.
Buffer component in a SDS-gradient gel electrophoresis system that separates polypeptides in the molecular weight range of 1500 to 100,000. Used as a spacer in isotachophoresis of proteins. Also used as a buffer for the determination of alkaline phosphatase activity.

Formation constants of the silver(I) complexes with some amino-alcohols have been determined at 25 degrees C in 0.5 M KNO(3) by means of two independent potentiometric measurements employing glass and silver electrode. The ligands considered are: sec-butylamine, 2-amino-1-propanol, 2-amino-1-methoxy-propane, 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol

Dirhodium(II)-catalyzed C-H amination reaction of (S)-3-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)-2-methylpropyl carbamate, which was easily prepared from methyl (S)-2-methyl-3-hydroxypropanoate, proceeded more smoothly than those of their 2-(methoxycarbonyl)propyl derivative to give the corresponding oxazolidinone in excellent yield. The resulting oxazolidinone was converted efficiently into both (R)-monoprotected
