Specificity

Recognizes most of the basic (Type II) keratins, HMW cytokeratins. It is broadly reactive and stains positively almost all epithelia and their neoplasms. AE3 reacts with all layers of epidermis (basal layer and above). The antibody is an excellent marker for distinguishing carcinomas from non-epithelial tumours. It has been used for studying the immunolocalisation of epidermal keratins, tissue distribution of keratins, various diseases of epidermis, oral mucosa and other epithelia and other epithelia development. AE3 and AE1 (Catalog Number MAB1612) have been used extensively for distinguishing carcinoma from non-carcinoma.

Immunogen

Human epidermal cells

Application

Anti-Keratin Epithelial Antibody, clone AE3 is an antibody against Keratin Epithelial for use in WB, IH(P).
Immunohistochemistry on unfixed frozen sections or formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. For paraffin-embedded sections, antigen retrieval (HEIR or trypsin treatment) is strongly recommended.

Western blotting: Clone AE3 recognizes the 65 to 67, 64, 59, 58, 56 and 52 kDa human cytokeratins of the basic subfamily.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.
