General description

5-Tricosylresorcinol, belonging to the class of alkylresorcinols (ARs), is an important constituent of cereal grains. Alkylresorcinols exhibit anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and anti-mutagenic properties, as studied from cell culture.

Application

5-Tricosylresorcinol may be used as an analytical reference standard in the following:
  • Quantification of the analyte in seeds using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization coupled to quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS).       
  • Quantification of the analyte in Keishibukuryogan-ka-yokuinin Japanese medicine, using blood pharmacokinetic techniques.
