General description

Protease Inhibitor Cocktail Set I A is specially formulated containing five protease inhibitors that will inhibit a broad range of proteases and esterases.

Specificity

Inhibits a broad range of proteases and esterases.

Application

Protease Inhibitor Cocktail Set I – Calbiochem has been used in lysis buffer to lyse cells and perform western blotting.
Protease Inhibitor Cocktail Set I have been used as a supplement in:
  • cold radioimmunoprecipitation assay (RIPA) buffer to prepare cell lysates for western blotting
  • RIPA lysis buffer to extract total protein from rat liver tissues and AML12 cells
  • sucrose solution to homogenize mice cortices for myelin isolation

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protease inhibitor cocktails and specific protease inhibitors are essential tools utilized by scientists in various proteomic studies. These studies encompass protein expression, characterization, biomarker discovery, mapping post-translational modifications, protein expression profiling, and quantitative protein measurement. The application of a protease inhibitor cocktail or protease inhibitors guarantees the preservation of protein integrity, facilitating downstream analysis and characterization.

Features and Benefits

  • Protease Inhibitor Cocktails offer protection of target protein against degradation in crude extracts
  • Ready for reconstitution

Warning

Toxicity: Harmful (C)

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 month at -20°C.
Reconstitute each vial with 1 ml dH2O to yield a 100X stock solution.

Other Notes

The presence of EDTA may interfere with the purification of His•Tag fusion proteins if a cell extract is applied directly to IMAC resins.
