3,3′,4-Tri-O-methylellagic acid is the methylated analogue of Ellagic acid. 3,3′,4-Tri-O-methylellagic acid was initially isolated from the rhizomes of Euphorbia acaulis. 3,3′,4-Tri-O-methylellagic acid was found to have anti-diabetic properties in mice models treated with Alloxan. Furthermore, 3,3′,4-Tri-O-methylellagic acid was reported to possess anti-bacterial activity against several bacterial strains including, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.
