Interleukin 11 receptor subunit alpha (IL11RA) gene has 13 exons. The protein has an extracellular, transmembrane and a cytoplasmic domain. It is mapped to human chromosome 9p13.3. IL11RA is expressed in epithelial cells of human mucosa.

Applicazioni

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Interleukin 11 receptor subunit alpha (IL11RA) shows high copy number in gastric adenocarcinoma. IL-11Rα plays a key role in the pathogenesis of interleukin 13 (IL-13)-induced inflammation. IL11RA could be a therapeutic target to intervene in IL-13 mediated signalling. Mutations in IL11RA gene in children leads to loss of IL11RA signalling functionality, resulting in craniofacial and dental anomalies.
