General description
Il dimetilsolfossido (DMSO) è un solvente aprotico. Spesso le molecole terapeutiche e tossiche insolubili in acqua sono solubili in DMSO. Un metodo comunemente usato per preservare le cellule è quello dell′azoto liquido associato a un agente crioprotettivo come il DMSO. Il DMSO è usato per preparare soluzioni madre di varie molecole e anche come controllo per queste molecole. È stato usato nel saggio di migrazione cellulare per dissolvere le cellule post-migrazione. Il DMSO testato per i BPC soddisfa i requisiti delle applicazioni biotecnologiche e di ingegneria tessutale.
Application
Il dimetilsolfossido è stato impiegato come controllo con veicolo in esperimenti finalizzati a coltivare e indurre l′attivazione in vivo di cellule epatiche stellate (HSC). È stato utilizzato anche per preparare una soluzione madre per lo studio nella citotossicità dell′acido ferulico (FA) sulle cellule del nucleo polposo (NP).

Is DMSO Cat number D2438 Odourless? or what guidance is there on the potential odour from DMSO.

This product is a clear, colorless liquid. DMSO is essentially odorless, however a slight odor may occasionally be perceived.

Is it okay to mix it with freezing media that is kept refrigerated? Additionally, when I mixed DMSO with freezing media that was kept refrigerated, a white floating substance appeared. Do you know what might have caused this?

The DMSO is stable at room or refrigerated temperatures. Typically, cell freezing media containing serum and DMSO, are stable for at least several days when thawed and refrigerated. Other constituents of freezing medium, primarily serum, may contribute to the appearance of particulates. Both D2438 and D2650 are suitable for cell culture. The D2650 is part of the Hybri-Max™ product line. Hybri-Max products have been tested for use in hybridoma creation and culture. The D2438 is part of the BioPerformance Certified group of products. These products are tested and optimized for use in biological applications. This product is packaged in amber glass and is protected from light. The 10 mL size is packaged in a sealed ampule. Once opened, any content that is not used should also be stored in amber glass. For long term storage, the material may also be stored under inert gas to preserve the shelf life. Note that this material has a tendency to absorb water. Containers should be tightly sealed.

What is the difference between products D2438 and D8418?

The D2438 is a BioPerformance Certified grade product suitable for cell culture, hybridoma creation, and cryopreservation. It is intended for research use only but does meet USP and EP testing requirements. The D8418 is a molecular biology-grade product suitable for DNA sequencing, PCR, and transfection. It has been tested for RNAse and DNAse. The products can be selected based on the application.
