The purpose of the charcoal purification step is to remove fatty acids from the albumin solution, and it has been verified that no traces of charcoal are present in the final product. As for ensuring that components of the buffer used for lyophilization are not present in the final product, it is currently considered salt-free, but there is potential to characterize it by ICP-MS.

Le albumine sono proteine monomeriche solubili presenti nei fluidi e nei tessuti corporei degli animali e nei semi di alcune piante. L′albumina sierica svolge le funzioni di proteina carrier per gli steroidi, gli acidi grassi e gli ormoni tiroidei. Le albumine sieriche sono anche di vitale importanza nella regolazione delle pressioni colloido-osmotiche del sangue.
L′albumina sierica svolge le funzioni di proteina carrier per gli steroidi, gli acidi grassi e gli ormoni tiroidei ed è di vitale importanza nella regolazione delle pressioni colloido-osmotiche del sangue. È stato anche osservato che l′albumina si lega a sostanze esogene, farmaci in particolare (per es. ibuprofene, warfarin) influenzandone pesantemente la farmacocinetica. Lo stress ossidativo che determina modificazioni dello stato redox dell′albumina ha effetti molto variabili sulla sua funzione fisiologica.
Serum albumin primarily mediates divalent cation transportation, fatty acid and drug complex formation and transport.[5] The albumin levels in the serum indicate the disease progression in advanced liver disease.[1] Low body weight and decreased serum albumin is associated with colorectal cancer.[6]
