General description

We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry. Glycerol, with its high boiling point, low flammability, and polarity, is a standout choice. As a non-toxic and biodegradable compound, it aligns perfectly with the principles of ′Safer Solvents and Auxiliaries′ and ′Design for Degradation′. Click here for more information.

Application

Questions

1–6 of 6 Questions
  1. Is this product DNase and RNase free?

    1 answer
    1. This product is not tested for DNase or RNase. Please see the links below to review the Molecular Biology tested products that are listed at RNase and DNase-free:
      Glycerol, Molecular Biology, 99%

  2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/418/501/product-dating-information-06-25-mk.pdf

      Helpful?

  3. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

      Helpful?

  4. What is the shelf life of a glycerol solution containing 60-70% glycerol.

    1 answer
    1. The shelf life exclusively refers to originally sealed packages stored under adequate conditions as shown on the label, on the technical data sheet or indicated on our homepage. The shelf life after opening is depending on various factors (e.g. storage temperatures, humidity, atmosphere, etc.) which might affect the stability after opening. We are not in the position to consider these influencing factors outside our company. Therefore, the customers themselves have to define the stability criteria after opening/in-use which is reflecting these points according to the specific circumstances.

  5. What is the viscosity of glycerol?

    1 answer
    1. The viscosity of glycerol is 648 Centistokes at 20 Deg C (68 Deg F).

      Helpful?

  6. What is the Department of Transportation shipping information for this product?

    1 answer
    1. Transportation information can be found in Section 14 of the product's (M)SDS.To access the shipping information for this material, use the link on the product detail page for the product.
