Carmine is a red compound and is commonly used with aluminum, iron or other metal salts to enhance its activity.[1] During smear preparation, carmine is required for chromatin staining in fresh material. In presence of aluminum chloride, it is required for the staining of glycogen.[2]

Applicazioni

Carmine has been used for the staining of mammary glands.[3][4] It has also been used for the staining of chromosomes.[5]

Compatibilità

Certified for use in Orth′s lithium carbonate technique, Southgate′s mucicarmine method, and Best′s carmine for glycogen
